“These portraits and self-portraits show what is at a given moment, nothing more, nothing less. It is an inventory of the human being, a look…” Maud Deschamps.
The first Alumni Connect of 2017 was an exclusive private view of alumna Maud Deschamps’ exhibition “Piliers sacrés”, 13 monumental nude portraits and self-portraits at the Chapelle de Boondael in Ixelles. Alumni were among the first to see these impressive works and had the opportunity to listen to an insightful debate between Maud and the philosopher Jacques Sojcher on her eight-year journey as an artist and the representation of the human body in art. The exhibition attracted considerable public interest, including a visit by members of the Belgian Royal family. Networking remained central to this out-of-the-box Connect session and guests agreed we should continue to organize this type of event to showcase the rich diversity of talents in our network.
