Support the Belgian innovation ecosystem as a Start it@KBC mentor!

reunion 1

We know our Alumni network is full of great business minds, inspiring entrepreneurs and high-level influencers on the Belgian and international markets… Now Accenture invites you to share your knowledge and skills as a mentor to help the next generation of Belgian startups become more successful!

Since 2013, Accenture has been helping to accelerate and drive innovation in Belgium as a partner of Start it@KBC. This incubator program for homegrown entrepreneurial talent has hubs in several cities (Antwerp, Brussels, Hasselt, Kortrijk, Ghent and Leuven) where we are coaching selected startups to develop and grow their ideas. Our President Eric Lonbois and alumnus Pascal Cools are already actively involved. Why not join them? As Eric’s testimonial below shows, being a mentor is rewarding experience…

“A few months after leaving Accenture, an Alumnus told me about Start it@KBC. I contacted them and became a mentor. Since then I have coached two startups, one B2B and another B2C venture, and assisted them in a number of pitches. We’re talking about an environment where you are respected if you are a guru who frequently visits Silicon Valley, have lots of money that you are willing to invest or a serial entrepreneur. I was none of these. Nevertheless, I was warmly welcomed and armed with my experience at Accenture, I was able to coach, teach and help them. I encouraged them to continue pursuing their dreams but keep both feet on the ground. I taught them that ‘hope is not a strategy’. In return, I kept up-to-date on the latest digital developments and built new contacts in the startup ecosystem. I got to work with people who have a dream and who spend all their time chasing it. My role as a mentor was to help them do just that. In a world where thousands of small companies have similar dreams of becoming the future Amazons or Googles, an experienced mentor can make a real difference.”

Interested in taking on this exciting role?

Start it@KBC has a screening process to ensure the best interpersonal fit between mentors and startups. Once there is a match, the mentor and startup are expected to sync regularly and define a common goal to make the business venture successful.
